Seems like "The Day After Tomorrow II" can be made under budget. Just rush a camera crew to New Orleans... What are the odds? I don't think the politicos will be more rational after this disaster do you? Lets hope they rise above themselves. Steve, you are doing great work!

Joe C: I find your comment "But someone who disagrees with you is not ok. Grow up and stop behaving like a cry baby." pretty ironic when made on this site. A while ago, Steve posted my real name when I when I tried to engage John A. about some comments he had made on this blog.

Regards,

Thanks for the response! I've newly done a PCA analysis on lake chemistry with the data scattered on several different places... couldn't afford to even get all... thou I'm in the little league! :)

Well good luck then, lets hope there is no global warming... but I would not bet on it!

Steve,

Excellent.

Reminds me of Wooleen Station in the West Central West Australia recently when peer group pressure also was evident in the behaviour of 25 lambs, (mix of ewes and rams). 1 or 2 however didn't, and shows that even sheep can sometimes behave unexpectedly.

Actually peer group pressure seems to be a based on some rather subtle pyschological factors as I recall some experimental data on groups of students (US study) who were put in groups where normally conflicting opinions would have individually resulted in conflicting assessments of an issue. Say 7 believed A was true, and 3 B was true. (In fact B is true and A false). Put the 7 and 3 together, and ask for a group assessment of whether A or B was true, the 3 who previously asserted B was true, changed their position and sided with the majority 7 and stated that A was true.

I think it was referred to in Michael Talbot's book "The Holographic Universe" for those interested in chasing this up.

I'll leave the rest hanging in the air, so to speak, but one cannot be that harsh on the peer review system in light of this experimental data. The problem of course is that being unaware of this factor, dense peers seem not to understand.

Reminds me of a comment made by Nobel Laureat Hannes Alfven that the problem with science these days is that there are too many scientists.

Peter;

The pic was a joke. It should be funny to anyone who opens it up. It's called irony. It was Mr. Seinfeld-Soupnazi who started things off talking about dirty laundry. He seem to be the one wound up tighter than a drum. He seem to think socks and muppets or whatever ought to go in front of the grand jury.

You need to relax as well. And stop pretending this star wars 1.

Tim: I heard that Christy's London is doing an Auction on IP addresses. As you seem to have the biggest collection in the history of the internet, maybe you wanna give them a buzz.
That's a jok again Peter. Relax.

Steve, so taking the mick is now offical policy here, and is thus to be allowed by all?

How about another caption for the picture: 'The organ grinders monkey composes his latest brilliant post'? Fun? Acceptable? We'll see. I think a flame war is born :(
