Server Problems

Apologies for the downtime. It was nothing to do with us; there were problems with the server. I probably should switch to another vendor.

And if anyone knows of a webhosting company in Canada who can actually host websites more than 75% of the time, let us know.

Actually I do know one in Canada (Montreal) buddy of mine, as well as another in UK.

But I would also recomend the one I use (Mainly because it’s a larger company) sitelutions

Better than 75% of the time, but not 100%, I’d say based on my own usage about 98% of the time, but overall they are pretty decent and allows for a lot of control. Though it may get expensive with your bandwidth requirements.

If you want the other ones pop me a mail. I hesitate to post them as they are people that know me directly.

PS I hope your agreememnt with your current hosting company (And I use that term loosely) allows you to transfer the domain easily.

Some can be a huge pain about that.

Just remembering I know of another hosting company in the US (Texas)

The last time that I looked, the WordPress site listed several webhosting companies with relatively large capacities at relatively low prices, but I do not recall if any of them are in Canada.

FWIW, let me ask why you limit your options to companies in Canada?

I think the original reason was that Steve was familiar with his legal standing in Canadian law. I’m not sure that that reason is essential.

This site has two owners (one Greek and one Canadian) and has a lot of experience with webhosting.

    re #5,

    Thank you for that reply.

Let me suggest that Steve’s legal standing with respect to freedom of speech, and related concerns, including possible liable concerns, would be well accomated with a webhosting company in the US.

I do not have any expeience with the companies that I noticed in the list of sites that I noticed in the WordPress list; I use another. But I would like to encourage you, and Steve, to consider them.

FWIW, I use hostrocket.com, and without recommending them, which I regard as inappropriate, since my “sample size” is only 1, I can mention that I have had occasional problems with email, and usage logs, but I have had no downtime problems whatsoever, and some of the sites mentioned at the WordPress site seem to offer better deals.

I do encourage Steve, and you, to consider such sites.

Steve, if you don’t mind a US company, I would suggest Pair Networks. Between my brother and I, we have run around 5 websites, two of them corporate at Pair and have had no problems at all. Tom’s hardware is at pair.
