Re # 95 MrPete

It's not the value of a change that I'm referring to, it's the fact of a change. I do not know the answer to this, but if a new calculation for (say) satellite calibration adjusts a distance, does this mean that the whole GISS system is adjusted? There has to be some reason for the frequency of adjustments.

Re # 96 Steve McI, let me know if you already have the public CD of some 1200+ Australian B o M stations. The CDs are the best means I know for getting ROW data from here.

Geoff,

Even with a new reference frame, the rain in Maine falls mainly on the Seine.**

It's an interesting paper. However, I seriously doubt any of this would impact climate calculations. Grid adjustments in the paper would be pure "bit noise," below climate measurement detectability.

Grid adjustments in the paper are all much smaller than an arc-second (30m or so); climate location measurements are not that precise.

More significant: even with reference frame adjustments, distances change much less than do positions.

--Pete

**If the reader is new to CA, search for "Seine" to find that little joke :-)
