mildly interesting stuff when you look at combining stations for verhojansk.
7 different files. not much overlap between stations since 1987. also
surrounding rural stations might yeild something. See the WUWT post on the

<blockquote> Verkhoyansk is a town in the Sakha Republic, Russia, situated on the Yana River, near the Arctic Circle, 675 km from Yakutsk.
If someone takes a tone of omniscience, of infallibility, of condescension toward "sceptics", and it then turns out that they are making up statistics that have never been tested, used data with geographic coordinates wrong, arbitrarily truncated data, lost recent data from entire countries, can't seem to add, etc., then perhaps a little irony, a few snide remarks are in order. You may note that Steve M. (not a Dr., but quite qualified anyway) puts HIS data and R code in public and corrects his mistakes. It is the people who claim infallibility who hide their code, their data, and their methods.

Re: <a href="#comment-311570" rel="nofollow">conard (#84)</a>,
If you ever had a child with a lice problem, you would appreciate that nit picking is a necessary.

That said: Pointing out that GISS has extremely poor quality assurance is not nit picking. I assume by asymmetry in tone, you are alluding to tone in the top of the fold and reminding us that Gavin's tone is more snide than other bloggers?

Cat in a sand box.

This sand box is Dr. M's. The statistical guru.

Dr. Steve M has demonstrated his competence in statistics for the record. Of course, I am no climatologist. I am no statistician, I am an engineer. I try to keep abreast of the science here. I thank you all for your contributions.

I would like to remind those desperate souls that we can't snap our fingers and make anything so. Should we vote to make something so by a democracy? We can't pray to make it so. Let's vote for independent science.

We need a bulldog with a good nose here.

This is what they're paid to do. They're paid out of YOUR pocket, and work for you. Yet call them on the piss poor job they're doing in the rare minutes when they're not out self-promoting, and all they can do is feign some smug irritation and tell you their budget is too small.
