Pete Holzmann has written an excellent Firefox-Greasemonkey add-on that provides comment capability from the old site for Firefox users (which I use BTW). Go to https://climateaudit.org/ca-assistant/ and try. It will make commenting easier. Thanks, Pete.

Update: the CA Assistant page has been updated with hints on enabling/disabling GreaseMonkey, enabling the script for other WordPress sites, and more.

Highly Recommended!
Retains nesting, sorts by ‘last-posted-comment’ order.
Beautiful…
TL
“Last-Posted-Comment order” Just saw that. That is what I need. Nice!
Thanks!
I know pete.
Using it and it is sweet 🙂
For the curious, John A’s sequence looked like this before it was posted:
Could a brutally simple example of using latex and a note about permissible tags be placed next to the comment box? Right next to “Your email is never shared?”
http://en.support.wordpress.com/latex/
That really wasn’t what I meant. I know latex, but when you wander around the web, everyone has introduced their own idiosyncratic solutions to formatting comments. Some allow BBCode, some HTML, some limited HTML, some XHTML, some Wiki, and some homebrew things….
A brief note “We allow XHTML and allow latex between the tags…” Or a popup “Click here for commenting tag overview.”
At the moment, I’m at home – on Firefox with GreaseMonkey. So – MrPete’s plugin works wonderfully. But for when one doesn’t have the very handy commenting buttons, the short clues go a long darn way.
Must you give out all my secrets?
Here’s another of your secrets: that the Schwarzschild metric.
Steve, you’re welcome! It’s a privilege to be able to help a little.
Mr. Pete,
I have been unsuccessful testing this.
I’m running FF 3.5.6
???
Gardy,
I’m doing a test here to do the B-Quote function. It’s the one I’ve used the most and have missed.
I had to disable NoScrip add-on in order for GM to work.
Mr. Pete,
what’s the feasibility of a Preview-before-Post feature with editing options ?
😀
MrPete,
Is it possible to tweak this for noconsensus.wordpress.com?
In Firefox 3.5.6 I just added Air Vent by going to the
1. Air Vent Main page
2. Going to Tools
3. Add ons
4. Grease Monkey
5. Options
6. Add
Mr. Pete this is super! Thanks
Fantastic, that is absolutely awesome.
Thanks Pete n Jim.
Now if Mr Pete could reproduce comment preview…
Working on it 😉
I do have a life however…
just had an idea….
What if we had an Open Science WebRing, and shared tools like this among them? Use the “logo” with the right tag, and the tool will be do nice things for you… something like that…
That would be great I see a lot of folks working on code .. roman, nick barnes, jeffid, john (see watts up with that).. etc
show off
It’s the only equation he knows? 😉
Why set c=1 but not $\hbar$? You must be an astronomer, not a particle physicist.
Where are the scripts that were formerly on this website? E.g. I can’t find:
http://www.climateaudit.org/scripts/utilities.txt
Steve: change .org to .info for now
Thank you. Open source can do a lot
I’ll use my 14 year old’s single word to express thanks and admiration… Dude !
Arrggg. I love the content on this website, but it is so hard to figure out what posts are new. Once a thread gets to a certain size it is incredibly inefficient to try and figure out if anything is newly posted.
Will this add-on help? I use IE, but would be willing to switch if this app makes reading the comments on this site feasible…
Thanks!
Just added it to all wordpress sites I visit. No problems with any of them.
