.. derived from a comment made by Phillip Bratby, over at Bishop Hill 🙂
Thank you Simon. It must have been those school visits to Stratford wot done it!
Indeed, the whole of the thread that contained this gem – the greatest comment on a climate blog for over a thousand years (and we’ve got the graphs to prove it) – is well worth reading. Well done Phillip and Josh.
“Ours is the age proud of machines that think and suspicious of men who try to.”

Shakespeare shows that the medieval warm period did not existin just one play:-
FIRST WITCH.
All hail, Macbeth! hail to thee, Thane of Glamis!
SECOND WITCH.
All hail, Macbeth! hail to thee, Thane of Cawdor!
THIRD WITCH.
All hail, Macbeth! that shalt be king hereafter!
FIRST WITCH.
Hail!
SECOND WITCH.
Hail!
THIRD WITCH.
Hail!
FIRST WITCH.
Banquo and Macbeth, all hail!
I hope this is not considered piling on 🙂
Man oh Mann! What a north and south!
I thought you might enjoy this funny as well.

Et Tu, Steve`?
The sound of silence;
The last update from the CRU at the UEA web site is dated Wed, 28 Jul 2010
Steve, speaking of crazy declamations, would really appreciate your comments on Trenberth’s upcoming talk at the AMS (via WUWT).
It’s a nauseating travesty of a scientist’s speech. You are alluded to, with typical grace : “They are also understandably (but inadvisably) reluctant to share complex data sets with non-experts that they perceive as charlatans (Hasselman 2010).”
Dear Steve et al, I am stunned that 2010 is declared tied for hottest year ever on recordwith 2005, incredible shrinking arctic sea ice and the earth just hot all over! Please can anyone tell me if these pronouncements from NOAH and NASA and others as reported by Accuweather’s Bret Anderson in a very recent post on the matter are true or bulloney? I for one can not believe this at all, locally here in the NYS region, the summer was delightful, with a two week heat wave , in the summer, that was notable.
I don’t think Noah has made any pronouncements for millennia.
Continental U.S. is cooling at a rate of 9.4 f per century!

Maybe this will work as a link to the article I apologize for being flip. But my question remains, Are there any scientists out there refuting the stated hottest year on record thing?
