Bishop Hill has cheered up readers with Josh’s cartoons. Josh has started a blog as an album of his climate cartoons here. Here is his most recent entitled The Three Stooges – two lords and an aspiring lord (now merely a sir) – Muir Russell, Oxburgh and Acton.

In the end, humor will do more to move the debate to establish better standards in science than all the necessary lifting being done now. When the general public is laughing at scientists who don’t check their instruments, don’t share their data, don’t check each other’s work, and rely on citations to propaganda by political activists in their work then the change will come quickly.
Keep ’em laughing Josh.
Don’t lose this crisis;
So reason in a circle.
What a bunch of jerks.
=========
Sorry for the late post. Been away for a week.
Lol! A circle jerk is indeed the best way to describe what’s been going on with these in(en?)quries…something you can say, in a clever way, while waxing poetically; that cannot be done, under any norm, in more graphic form, ethically.
Love the haikus kim! Keep them coming.
This is the new form of “peer” review.
I see Bishop Hill has now discovered who the UAE person was who confirmed the list provided by the RS was a “fair representation”.
It was, drum roll …
Phil Jones!
Given UAE also put together the list by person unknown, um, let me guess, come on down Phil, is it any wonder he thought the list was fair?
So Phil was never queried by the head of the inquiry, he got to pick the papers they’d run their eyes over (and confirm them – nice job!) and he was never asked any questions about the heart of his misdeeds.
How anyone can crow about these enquiries giving these scientists the all clear is baffling.
Another cock up by corporal Jones of the UEA home guard!
… Don’t panic, Don’t panic
… they don’t like it up em!
… Yes Mr Mann-warming
While I deplore certain procedures of past inquiries and I laugh privately at Josh’s cartoon, I am a little concerned about the dignity of the catoon on CA. But, it’s your blog, Steve, and at times mea culpa could be applied to some of my posts. Whether one believes that they are deserved or not, titles ought be respected if you don’t wish to have the bulk of the Brit aristocracy off side.
Its our heritage, sir!

Touche!
Oh Dear
Front Page of the Times:
“Oil Giant gave £1million to fund climate sceptics”
exxon mobil at it again… WHERE IS MY CHEQUE 😉 😉 !!!!
Leading Article page 2 of THE Times:
Research Interests: Research into climate change needs to be independent and beyond approach…
ie the tiny amount funding ‘sceptics’ is questionable,
but the billions funding the bandwagon, is independant and beyond approach..
Page 5:
“‘Climategate Scientists’ still under fire over research’
“AFTER being CLEARED of scientific fraud by three seperate enquiries, the climate sceintists at UEA might have hoped that they would be able to quietly resume studying the growth of tree rings…
BUT they continue to be HOUNDED by climate sceptics – mostly based in Britain and the US – who REFUSE to accept the outcome”
it goes on…
Could someone tell the Times, that in one of the inquiries, the accused sipplied their FAIR representaive papers as evidence… NONE of which were the criticalk ones in question!!!!
Look like the MEDIA big boys are out in force protecting the vested CAGW financial interests…
This was a great comic, one of Josh’s best.

Some may find this link interesting. I’ve been messing around with the Mann07 pseudoproxy paper.
Josh’s cartoons show a cleverness that isn’t overdone. The themes are simple enough for the general public to grasp, yet often contain a subtext for us long-time observers. His artistic sense is clean and engaging. The satire is sharp, but not bitter or mean. Good work all around.
Please maintain decorum, its not Sir it’s Laird Russell of the Wash 🙂
Folks – the counterbalance for producing a useful discussion on climate science has on one side a monolith of the global warming crew, still claiming the “underground” and weak “David” role when in fact it is a Goliath. And the counter is folks like you and the likes of you Lindzen.
You are a very valuable and crucial force right now which has to be efficient.
“Climategate” is over, get over it. Move back to science. You are doing exactly what your critics desire becoming marginalized into babbling on servers and political commentary. Are you really surprised this was whitewashed? Your “opponents” want you to spin your wheels in this topic.
Get back to science – this is now an unproductive topic. Science is where a single person can make a difference. “Climategate” requires a political movement to prevail. You do not have the resources nor is it your expertise. Get over it.
wow. You’ve got to be kidding. These kids keep digging themselves deeper, paying attention is critical because the media isn’t going to do it.
If you want a bit of science here’s another hockey stick step.
Laughing at buffoons is the best way to showcase the buffoonery. “Go back to science”? Are you kidding?! Since when have Jones, Mann, Briffa, Rahmstorf and the rest of the keystone kops ever done any science? You know — calibrating instruments, replicating studies, providing honest responses to criticisms, etc. To call what these jokers do ‘science’ is to insult genuine scientists throughout the course of history. When they adopt the scientific method, we can ‘go back to science’ — for the first time.
Many thanks for the kind comments.
George Robertson – ‘Climategate is over’? Gosh I do hope not – it is a rich mine of inspiration for me, and it gives those of us with less climate science a way in to the whole debate.
Steve, thanks for posting!
I was trying to explain to my wife the refined, sober discussions that we have here at CA, and then she saw the above cartoon!
Laird Russell of the Wash?
I thought it was spelt Liard.
One Trackback
[…] 2010: The 3 British inquiries spurred by the Climategate emails have now been completed but they all have only increased suspicion of climate “science”. 1) The Parliamentary inquiry had only one day of hearings and didn’t interview McIintyre and McMitrick. 2) The Oxburg inquiry had a chirman who was selling carbon credits an only looked at a CRU papers supplied by CRU. 3) The Russel Muir inquiry head did not even interview Phil Jones nor ask him if he deleted any email … … and cartoonists are having some fun […]
