Climate Audit has been upgraded to 1.5.1.3

I’ve upgraded the site, and experimented with a few themes (which I’m not completely happy with – suggestions please), implemented a new spam plug-in (Spam Karma 2) and threaded comments.

There’s still some extra stuff I want to put on (including a comment verification CAPTCHA to get rid of automated spam) but it’ll have to wait until the morning.

Any other suggestions for improvements, let me know in the comments.

The new version of the site is much easier to read.

I note that the name of the poster (Steve vs John A) is missing.

Another point, which I’d hoped would be changed but hasn’t is that when you return from an individual post + comments to the main thread listing, you don’t return to where you were but to the top of the list. This is annoying since you then have to scroll back down to where you were. Perhaps it’s just my set-up though I don’t have this happen on other blog-sites.

1 – Not keen on the blue – much preferred the slightly drab green you had previously. It was very distinctive and not so glaring.
2 – The link to the comments is too small – I didn’t see it at first. Could you boost the point size a bit ?
3 – If comments are going to be threaded, will the default view be all threads expanded ? If not, will there be a button somewhere for it ?
4 – The sidebar blogroll covers both blogs and specific items (e.g., individual posts here, or the MM05 paper). It might be good to have separate headings for these.

While I’m here, thank you for the work you do on this site John. I, for one, greatly appreciate it.

It looks like things are starting to round into shape. It appears several of the bugs are now fixed. I’d still like the back arrow key to remember where you were, however.

As someone who’s previously just been an interested lurker on this site, I’ve got a complaint about the new threading feature. Since new posts are now interspersed among the old ones, anyone wanting to locate new comments on a thread must reread the entire thread rather than just skipping to the bottom.
If there is some way for users to turn off threading, or display only new comments since the user’s last visit, or some other solution to this that I’ve missed (quite possible!), I would crave enlightenment.
To John A and any other “behind the scenes” workers — thanks for your efforts!

Why don’t I see threads branching?
