Cubasch said: After all, Mann’s study appeared in NATURE, a renowned peer-revewied specialist journal. In such cases, the IPCC team has to rely on peer review. To check each publication used in the IPCC report would take far too long. Some more thoughts.
Bernd StràÆàer commented that Cubasch told a German radio station about incorrectly located series in MBH98. Does this sound familiar?
von Storch made the following new comments also in German from Technology Review, translation again courtesy of Benny Peiser, about Mann’s "shoddiness":
Marcel Crok’s article on us from Natuurwetenschap & Techniek, available here in English translation, has now been translated into German by Technology Review here. It includes comments by Cubasch, von Storch, Mann, Latif and an interview with Stefan Rahmsdorff. I’ve posted up Benny Peiser’s translation of Cubasch’s comments and will post up Peiser’s translation of […]
Ulrich Cubasch is Professor of Meteorology at the Free University in Berlin and a co-author of the 2007 IPCC Report. He reports that they are currently working on replicating Mann’s work and that his Ph.D. student "promptly found a can of worms".
A number of readers here have complained about apparently legitimate posts being rejected at realclimate. If you happened to have saved them before being rejected, feel free to post them up in the comments to this post.

Does anyone remember the 159 series said to have been used in MBH98? Mann et al. [2003] stated: MBH98 calculated PCs of proxy sub-networks separately for each interval in their stepwise reconstruction. This is the only sensible approach, as it allows all data available over each sub-interval to be used. This requires 159 independent time […]
I will be making my first presentation on our 2005 papers to the Toronto Geological Discussion Group on Tues., March 1, 2005 4 p.m. at the Ontario Club, Commerce Court South, Toronto. Any readers in the area would be welcome to attend.
Jones and Mann [2004] states: However, a careful analysis (M. E. Mann et al., Critical flaws in a recent criticism of the Mann et al. [1998] study, submitted to Climate Change [sic], 2003) of the McIntyre and McKittrick [2003] result reveals that their anomalous 15th century warmth results from their elimination of over 70% of […]
