Feedback on the work of McIntyre and McKitrick

WSJ Editorial

The Wall Street Journal ran editorial today in which M&M were mentioned. They say: Mr. Mann has never offered a serious rebuttal to the McIntyre-McKitrick critique. He has refused to fully explain his methodology, claiming he’s the victim of "intimidation." That’s odd when you consider that the sine qua non of real science is independently […]

Canada's Minister of the Environment on M&M

A reader of this website recently sent a letter to Canada’s Minister of the Environment, Stéphane Dion, urging him to consider our 2005 articles. I have included here the Minister’s response, in which he states that “many of our arguments have been refuted by by Jones and Mann in their recently published review paper (Review […]

National Post: Re-visiting the Stick

I have a lengthy op ed in today’s National Post go here summarizing some of the debate since publication of our 2005 articles. The article is on page FP19. Update: The link is now offline. Here is the text as I submitted it to National Post; it may differ a little, but not much.

The Atlantic Hurricane season

‘Tis nearly the Atlantic hurricane season, a traditional time for battening down the hatches, making sure the family are safe in the storm shelter, and making sure you are safely marooned in the local bar (this is what I did during one hurricane in the Bahamas in 1995). ‘Tis also the time for people to […]

Alpine Glaciers "disappeared 7000 years ago"

A new study on Alpine glaciers has shown that the recent melting since the lowest point of the "Little Ice Age" in the 17th Century is not extraordinary in the context of climate change since the end of the last Ice Age: The Alpine glaciers are shrinking, that much we know. But new research suggests […]

A small observation…

Realclimate have removed their links to Roger Pielke’s Prometheus blog, as a demonstration of their commitment to rational, scientific dialogue. Update: They’ve put the link back now. It looks like the tantrum is over. Just another ripple in the ocean of climate science.

Upcoming Washington Trip

Ross McKitrick and I will be making two presentations in Washington on May 11 sponsored by Cooler Heads Coalition/George Marshall Institute: 12.20 at the National Press Club and 3 pm somewhere on Capitol Hill.

BBC: Finding the elusive "smoking gun"

Apologies for the delay on this article. We’ve now fixed the weblog issue The BBC reports on yet another discovery of the "Smoking Gun" of anthropogenic global warming.

Prometheus on Climateaudit on Briffa MXD

Roger Pielke at Prometheus [archive] as some kind words for my comments on the IPCC “editing” of the Briffa MXD series in their spaghetti graph. Good for Chris Mooney and good for Climate Audit. Such close attention can help both the IPCC and NASA realize that people are paying attention to their use of information […]

"Science", "con-sensus" and censorship

Dr Benny Peiser has put his full correspondance on the Internet regarding his replication of Naomi Oreskes’ "research" claiming that all or practically all scientific papers backed the "consensus" view on global warming. I put the words "research" in scare quotes, because frankly, if this is research it’s not as I understand the term. "Limited […]
